HMS Belfast Warship COBI Historical Building Blocks 4844

The COBI company, as part of a prestigious collaboration with the Imperial War Museums (IMW), has developed a model of the historic British cruiser HMS Belfast. The ship was designed on a scale of 1:300 and faithfully reflects the details of its historical inspiration. The light cruiser is 64 cm long and 19.5 cm high. It has many moving elements, such as deck guns, rotating artillery turrets, rudders, and propellers. The model has been covered with high-quality prints that represent equipment and camouflage. The prints do not smudge, even during intensive use. The set includes a black display stand and a white plate with the name and scale of the model printed on it. The plate also features the IMW logo (Imperial War Museums). Belfast will be a perfect gift for all history, military, and naval science enthusiasts. It will also look great on a desk, bookshelf, or souvenir shelf. Build history, piece by piece, with COBI.

HMS Belfast was a light cruiser of the British Royal Navy from World War II. It was commissioned on August 5, 1939. In late November of the same year, it was out of service for three years due to damage from a German mine. From 1942, it covered Arctic convoys. On December 26, 1943, it, along with the cruisers HMS Norfolk and HMS Sheffield, repelled attacks from the German battleship Scharnhorst, which attempted to break through to an Allied convoy. The sinking of the Scharnhorst contributed to its subsequent encirclement and sinking. HMS Belfast also participated in the attack on the German battleship Tirpitz. It underwent a general renovation from June 1944. In August 1945, it entered Sydney Harbor, where the end of the war in the Pacific found it. From 1945 to 1962, with breaks for repairs, it served in the Far East, including participation in the Korean War. In 1966, it was designated as a residential house. However, in 1971, it was threatened with scrapping. Thanks to the British societys stance, this did not happen. Instead, it was moored on the Thames and became a museum exhibit. Subsequent renovations have extended its lifespan.
