Produced and continuously improved from 1949-1990, the Citroen 2CV became an icon of the French automobile industry. The car was designed before the war. Its creation was associated with the need to produce a simple and affordable car for the masses, in line with the company director Pierre Boulangers slogan, quatre roues sous un parapluie (four wheels under an umbrella). The car was maximally simplified, economical, and allowed for comfortable transportation of four people with luggage. Dubbed the ugliest car in the world at the 1948 Paris Salon, it became a desired object, contrary to critics opinions. Over the course of 41 years of production, almost 4 million 2CVs were produced in factories around the world. Today, the car has a cult status and is a delicacy for collectors.
